Supply and Support Vigil
May 14, 2011
On a beautiful day in the spring, the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #82, with the gracious help of Vietnam Veterans Incorporated, held a vigil for the troops who are serving this great country overseas. For fifteen minute intervals volunteers held the American Flag in honor of each and every soldier past and present.
The purpose for this event was two-fold:
1) To raise continued awareness of those who continue to put themselves in harms way defending us here at home.
2) To collect items needed to make their stay away from friends and family as comfortable as possible.
Also, a drive was held with the indespensible help
of First Student, in front of the Sam's Club near the Mall at Robinson, to fill a full sized school bus with donations to be sent over to as many soldiers as we could. The donations kept pouring in enough to fill not just one but TWO of them.
